Privacy policy

Last updated September 24, 2026. The short version: Paperwork runs on your device and we never see your documents.

What Paperwork stores, and where

Everything you type into Paperwork — your business details, clients, projects, line items, logo and documents — is stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. It is never sent to us or to any server. If you clear your browser data or uninstall the app, it is gone, which is why the app offers a backup download.

Signature links

When you share a document for signature, the document is compressed into the link itself. Opening the link renders it in the recipient's browser; nothing is stored on our servers and we cannot read links you create. When a client signs, their signature travels back to you the same way, inside a confirmation link. Treat share links like the document itself: anyone with the link can read it.

Voice dictation

Dictation uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. Depending on your browser, audio may be processed by the browser vendor (for example Google for Chrome or Apple for Safari) under their privacy terms. Paperwork itself never receives audio.

License keys

When you enter a license key, the app sends only that key to Gumroad's license-verification service to confirm the purchase. Nothing else about you or your documents is included.

Purchases

Payments are processed by Gumroad. We receive the email address you used at checkout so we can send updates and support; we do not see card details. See Gumroad's privacy policy for their handling of payment data.

Website analytics

getpaperwork.app uses GoatCounter, a privacy-respecting analytics service that counts page views without cookies, without tracking you across sites, and without storing personal data. We see page counts and referrers, not who you are.

What we don't do

Children

Paperwork is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13.
