SEO services contract template

SEO is sold monthly and judged on results nobody fully controls. This agreement defines the work you will do, what you will report, and says plainly what cannot be promised.

The template

1. ServicesEach month Provider will deliver: [a technical audit and fixes list], [two] optimised pages or articles, [five] outreach placements attempted, and a report of rankings, traffic and work completed.
2. No guaranteeSearch engines control rankings. Provider will use recognised, policy-compliant methods and report results honestly, but does not guarantee any specific ranking, traffic or revenue outcome.
3. Client responsibilitiesClient provides access to the website, analytics and search console within [5] days, approves content within [5] business days, and implements recommended technical changes Provider cannot make directly.
4. Fee and term[amount] per month, invoiced on the 1st, due on receipt, for an initial term of [3] months, then month to month with [30] days' notice.
5. OwnershipContent and reports produced for Client belong to Client on payment. Provider's tools, templates and processes remain Provider's.

Say what you will do, not what will happen

"Two optimised articles a month" is a deliverable you can invoice. "Page one in 90 days" is a lawsuit. Clause 2 is the most important line in the document.

Three-month minimum

SEO takes a quarter to show anything. A short initial term protects both sides from judging the work on week two.
