Social media management contract template
Social media work is a retainer with unusual risks: you hold the client's accounts, you spend their ad budget, and every post carries their name. This contract handles each one.
The template
1. ScopeProvider will manage [Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn] for Client: [12] feed posts, [8] stories and [4] short videos per month, community replies on business days, and a monthly report.
2. ApprovalContent is shared in a monthly calendar [7] days before the first post. Client approves or requests changes within [3] business days; content without feedback by then is deemed approved. [One] round of changes per calendar is included.
3. Account access and ownershipClient owns all accounts and provides access via [Meta Business Suite / a manager role], never shared passwords. Provider's access ends when this agreement ends.
4. Ad spendAny paid promotion is billed directly to Client's card on the platform. Provider's management fee does not include ad spend. Provider will not exceed the monthly budget of [amount] without written approval.
5. Fee[amount] per month, invoiced on the 1st, due on receipt. Additional content is quoted separately.
6. Content and liabilityClient is responsible for the accuracy of claims about its products and for rights to any materials it supplies. Provider will not post content it reasonably believes is unlawful or misleading.
7. TermMonth to month; [30] days' written notice to end. On termination Provider hands over the current calendar and any scheduled posts.

Never hold the password
Clause 3 protects both sides. Role-based access (Meta Business Suite, TikTok Business Center, LinkedIn Page admin) means the client can revoke you in a click and you can never be accused of holding an account hostage. Refuse shared passwords even when the client offers.
Ad spend on their card
Running ads through your own card and re-billing is how freelancers end up floating thousands of dollars. The platform bills the client directly; you manage the campaign. It also keeps the invoice a clean management fee.
Deemed approval
Without clause 2, a slow client makes it impossible to post on schedule and then blames you for missed posts. Three business days and silent approval keep the calendar moving.
